This cave is situated near Lidder Valley. Amarnath stands at 3,888 m in height. Today it is a very important centre of pilgrimage where every year millions of Hindus come to pay homage before one of their gods, called Shiva.
The cave is frequented by wild pigeons which is seen as the symbol of Shiva by his worshippers.
